Cop's body found in gutter

He was stabbed and bludgeoned to death

The body of Ramachandra (36), constable, a resident of Kariyappa Road in Banashankari 1st stage, was found in a drainage near Kumarans School on Friday morning.

The police suspect the hands of Ramachandra’s friends in the incident and have taken two persons into custody for interrogation.

According to sources, Ramachandrappa had gone to his native village Mulahalli in Kanakapura on Thursday and returned in the night. He completed dinner and was talking to his wife Sukanya. Soon, the JP Nagar police station constable Balaji and his friend came and asked him to come out along with them. Ramachandrappa thought that the duo were calling him outside for an official work. He told his wife that he would return soon and left the house with them, but did not return. Sukanya was under the impression that her husband was busy in some official work, said the sources.

A person named Ankappa, a neighbour of Ramachandra, grew curious seeing a large crowd near Kumarans School on Friday morning while going for duty. He went, looked inside the drainage and was shocked to see Ramachandra’s body. He immediately contacted Sukanya and informed. Sukanya contacted the police and narrated what had happened.

Ramachandra had joined the Police Department 14 years ago. He was transferred from JP Nagar to Airport police station one-and-a-half years ago. He was serving as a crime writer. He is survived by his wife and two children - Swaraj and Meghana.

Ramachandra’s house owner V Krishnachari said, “Ramachandra is  a tenant for the past six years. He is a good human being and was on good terms with everyone.”

The Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and order) M R Pujar and Joint-Commissioner (Crime) Alok Kumar visited the spot.
