Gamblers may soon face Goonda Act

Replying to questions by S R Leela Rao (Ind), the minister said the police recently arrested those indulging in cricket betting. But the arrested were out on bail the next day.

The government was seriously considering invoking the Goonda Act against gamblers.
But any such action should be uniform across the country. Otherwise, law breakers would escape from Karnataka and carry on their business in other states.

The Minister said that the betting menace was not confined to the State, but was rampant throughout the country.
