Among the many colleges that have started placements is the Institute of Business Management and Research (IBMR) which conducted a pre-placement week for the fourth semester students of PGDM and MBA. This will be followed by placements conducted by various companies.

The postgraduate students and those from the MBA participated in the various events held during the week. There were group discussions and mock interviews, conducted by the faculty of the college. The seminars organised on various topics did well to cover business ethics, communication and presentation.

The sessions were helpful to the students. They were taught the practical aspects of a corporate job. Alok, an MBA student says, “We were trained in the theoretical aspects of how to prepare for a career in business. At the mock interview we were given hands-on training on facing the interview board, and a lot of topics were covered on the subjects we are specialising in.” He adds, “After every interview we were given feedback on how to improve and convert weaknesses into strengths.”

Sarah, who is confident about attending an interview says, “After going through this training, we gained a lot of knowledge on the soft skills and got a hands-on experience on the professional ethics that we would be required to follow in a corporate set-up. We were shown what the real scenario would be like and also what questions to expect at interviews. Now I’m not only confident about attending an interview but clearing it as well.” Dressing appropriately for an interview was another aspect that was covered during the process.

The placements are on till the end of March. As many as 15 companies are expected to interview the students. The placement cell coordinates the entire placement process. Alok says, “In case, we would like to attend any interview outside campus we are free to do so after getting a ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the college.”
