The problem related to power supply in the district will be solved soon, promised District In-charge Minister Shobha Karandlaje.

She was speaking during the inaugural ceremony of the tomato auction stalls at the APMC yard in Chikkaballapur on Monday. “Attempts will be made in the coming days to supply power in three phases for up to six hours everyday,” the minister promised.

Farmers are troubled greatly by the irregular supply of power as agricultural activity comes to a standstill. “The government, being farmer-friendly, will work to solve the problems faced by the agricultural sector,” Karandlaje said.

She added that Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has allotted Rs five crore for the revival of tanks and other development works in Chikkaballapur district. “Of the allotted funds, Rs one crore will be utilised for development of tanks in urban areas and the remaining four crore rupees will be used for development of the rural regions,” she explained.

Various projects will be implemented step-by-step to upgrade the APMC yards and to provide modern equipment to the markets, she informed.

Legislator K P Bachegowda spoke on the occasion.

He said the State government should take immediate steps to alleviate the district of the multiple problems it is facing. He requested implementation of the Dr Paramashivaiah Report in order to provide permanent irrigation projects to the draught-ridden area.

Members of the Karnataka Raitha Sangha, Hasiru Sene and APMC workers submitted a request letter to Karandlaje asking her to ensure solving the problems.
