Paying tribute

Inchara Music Academy is presenting a musical tribute Apthamithrana Noorondu Nenapu to actor Vishnuvardhan who carved a unique path in the Kannada film industry.

A live karaoke rendering of popular songs from the films of Vishnuvardhan will be presented by the members of Inchara Music Academy.

The programme will be held at Bangalore Gayana Samaja Auditorium on March 20, 6 pm. There is no entry fee.


Yaksha Kala Academy is presenting Rasa Sourabha, a yakshagana presentation directed by Krishnamurthy Thunga, on March 20, 6 pm at KSRTC Layout, Chikka­llasandra, Uttarahalli Main Road.

Elan–Ek Awaaz’

Sri Jain Swetambar Terapanth Mahila Mandal has organised Elan– Ek
Awaaz... Naya Agaaz, an event in aid of social awareness, on March 20, between 4 pm and 7 pm, at Ambedkar Bhavan, Miller’s Road, Vasanthnagar.

Vocal concert

Ammu Warrier Memorial Music Concert will be organised at Indiranagar Sangeetha Sabha, 8th Main, HAL II Stage, on March 19, 5.30 pm.

Bharat Sundar, an up-and-coming artiste from Chennai, will present a Carnatic vocal concert on the occasion. Entry is free.


Vikalp Bengaluru will screen the documentary Living Like a Common Man on Indian youngsters in London on March 19, 6.30 pm at Smriti Nandan Cultural Centre, Nanda-deep, 15 /3 Palace Road. Youngsters in developing countries all over the world dream of going to the West.

They hope to earn money and get overseas experience to improve their positions at home. But once they arrive, they end up in low-status jobs and living crammed into small houses with other newly arrived migrants.

 This film follows the daily life in one such house in East London. The bunker beds are filled with young Indians, all from relatively wealthy families in Gujarat.

 When they return to visit India, their families have great expectations of their sons and daughters. For details on the screening, call 22258091.

Photo exhibition

Jaaga is organising a photo exhibition by Bangalore-based photographer Almeen Arif at Jaaga — Creative Common Ground, 15 Rhenius Street, Shantinagar, opposite Hockey Stadium main entrance, on March 19 and 20, 11 am to 6 pm. This exhibition, themed on People and Places, presents photographs captured over a span of one year documenting his travels and showcases his distinctive style which is a creative blend of artistic and reportage photography. The exhibition will have photographs of people, landscapes and places on display.

Almeen has a distinctive style. He experiments with different genres, people photography being his main area of interest.

He loves to travel and photograph people and landscapes. His works range from concert photography, portraits to remote villages in UP.
