Prez to inaugurate Bihar Council centenary fete

According to government sources, Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda, Speaker C P Singh, Chairmen of the Upper Houses in Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Jammu Kashmir are likely to be present on the occasion.

President Patil, who will be in the state capital for 90 minutes, will honour five distinguished surviving former MLCs with long tenures in the Council. These leaders will be presented with a shawl, citation and a memento by the President.

The President will also release a set of seven books on the occasion. These books are: List of Council Members, Members’ Biography, History of Bihar Vidhan Parishad, Biharnama, Bihari Martyrs’ in Freedom Struggle, Selected Debates on the Issues of Representation of Marginals, and Hundred Years of Bihar: Many Facets.
