“The BJP is desperate to win the bypolls and hence, it has sought the help of religious institutions, besides unleashing the power of money. But in politics, mutts are not the only consideration,” he said.

“It is the people’s verdict that matters. Chief Minister Yeddyurappa should realise this,” he stated after inaugurating the JD(S) Bangalore unit workers' convention at Palace Grounds.
Gowda said ‘Operation Lotus’ had become a menace. “The BJP and its parent organisation, the RSS, are practising defection politics.

They have made the entire State hang its head in shame,” he stated and added that he would continue his fight against the communal BJP, despite his advancing age and money power used by the ruling party to win elections.

Party State unit president Kumaraswamy alleged that the Yeddyurappa government had been surviving on hawala
money.

“An MLC has been tasked to do all hawala dealings in the party. The government will collapse in two months and no hawala money can save this government,” he stated.

Resolutions

The convention passed eight resolutions, including urging the Governor and the Centre to immediately sack the BJP government and hold elections to the State Assembly. Other resolutions are: protecting environment in Bangalore City, bringing Hemavathi river water to solve the drinking water problem in the City, regularisation of houses belonging to the poor and stopping illegal denotification of land.
