The protesters who demanded strict action against the police officers involved in the lathicharge, tried to enter the office of the Deputy Commissioner.
The farmers in Koppal were only demanding wages for the work they had done under MGNREGS. However, the police resorted to lathicharge, they said. Is it a crime to demanded one’s rightful wages? they added.
B H Narasimhappa, president of the organisation, demanded dismissal of the policemen responsible for lathicharge.
The BJP government has been towing an anti-farmer policy and is not concerned about the plight of farmers. In Haveri, farmers were fired while their counterparts in Chamarajanagar and Davanagere were lathicharged. Government alone is responsible this debacle, he added.
