Karnataka BJP sings unity tune for bypolls

"We are all united and will work together to win," said state BJP chief K. S. Eshwarappa, who last week led a group of party leaders to New Delhi to complain against Yeddyurappa to the central leaders.

He was addressing a meeting of party leaders and workers here to discuss preparations for the April 9 bypolls in Chennapatna, Jagalur and Bangarpet assembly constituencies.

Yeddyurappa, general secretary and BJP MP H.N. Ananth Kumar and state Rural Development Minister Jagadish Shettar were at the meeting. In his address, Yeddyurappa dismissed talk of dissidence against him as "media creation".

The bypolls will see triangular contests in all the three constituencies involving the BJP, the Congress and Janata Dal-Secular. The bypolls were necessitated as two Congress legislators, from Bangarpet and Jagalur, and one from the JD-S (Chennapatna) quit their seat to join the BJP in October last year.
