S G Medappa visits rain hit areas

Speaking after visiting the rain hit areas, Medappa said that solutions to rain havoc problems can be found only by carrying out permanent development works in the affected regions.

Taking up temporary measures will not help reduce problems. But since the permanent solutions require huge fund, works can be taken up only phase by phase, he added.

Town Municipality member K T Baby Mathew explained the typical problems the residents of Indiranagar, Chamundeshwari Nagar, Jyothinagar and Thyagaraja Colony face during rain season to Medappa.

He said that the residents, who face rain problems during rains, should be rehabilitated to safe places.

Later, Medappa visited the gruel centre opened at SGSY Community Hall in Chamundeshwari Nagar and took stock of the facilities provided by the Municipality.

After looking at the centre he directed Municipal Commissioner K Shrikanth Rao to make arrangements to provide electricity connection to the gruel centre.

Rao said that some residents in the rain hit areas do not shift to gruel centres even after they were warned.
