'Respect elders, parents'

Speaking after inaugurating an awareness camp for senior citizens organised jointly by the District Legal Services Authority and Senior Citizens Forum on Monday, he said “in the joint family system, all look after their elders. However, in the nuclear family system, children are moving away from their parents.”

Deputy Commissioner K H Ashwathanarayana Gowda said that there is a need to respect human values.

Senior Civil Judge Hemavathi said. if all of us understand human values, then fundamental rights will not be violated.

We should not fail to get our fundamental rights, she urged.

Assistant Commissioner Dr M R Ravi said “senior citizens are not burden. Their experience, expert is necessary for the younger generation. Senior citizens are like resource persons.”

Women and Child Welfare department Deputy Director Vijayalakshmi Shenoy also spoke.
