He was addressing the students at a seminar on Endosulfan organised by the Socio-Cultural Research and Study Centre at Canara College on Tuesday.

“We Indians have no other option but to regret for having ruled by a lethargic government which would be one of the three nations in the world to propagate the usage of Endosulphan at a world summit to be held on May 11. What else can we expect from this system?” he asked.

Having received several letters in response to his articles published in a magazine, he said the people who hail from Endosulfan affected villages and currently reside in other places too are the victims of Endosulfan. “I received a letter from a woman in Washington DC, who was born in Puttur taluk, and I was moved by her letter as she said two of her children are Endosulfan victims and have born with disabilities.

When I see this, I insist everyone from Belthangady, Puttur and Bantwal taluk to undergo the medical test so that they can identify if their gene carries Endosulfan in it. Those with Endosulfan content in their gene should not conceive so as to stop the further disaster,” he suggested.

Meanwhile, a group of students of Canara college took pledge to fight in favour of Endosulphan victims by forming the public opinion. Appreciating the effort of the students, he said the students should join their hands in fighting against Endosulfan and I have already informed about the initiative to the Energy Minister Shobha Karandlaje, he said.

An Endosulfan victim who has been fighting in favour of Endosulphan victims, Sridhar Gowda Kengudelu, from Kokkada was present.
