 Gurusaidatt defeated Malaysia’s Yogendran Krishnan 21-10, 21-18 in the pre-quarters to advance to the last-eight stage of the event where he will lock horns with Hong Kong’s Wing Ki Wong, who downed Japan’s Rei Sato 21-12, 22-20 in the third round. National champion Bhat, however, bowed out of the tournament after losing to Chinese Taipei’s Jen Hao Hsu 21-19, 21-16 in a hard-fought battle in the pre-quarters.

On Thursday, Gurusaidatt had made a short work of Chinese Taipei’s Yu Jei Lin 21-14, 21-12 while Bhat downed USA’s Bjorn Seguin 21-19, 21-15 in the second round to advance to the next stage of the event.

Meanwhile, India’s men’s doubles pair of Akshay Dewalkar and Arun Vishnu went down fighting to Japan’s Hiroyuki Saeki and Ryota Taohata 21-17, 19-21, 7-21 in the pre-quarters of the championship.

The Hyderabadi was in top form during the first game, scoring a 21-10 win.
But in the second game Yogendran put a steady fight to give the Indian a torrid time. Guru, hoowever, managed to pocket the second game 2-18 and also the match to march into the last eight of the tournament.
