Astrologers predict India's victory

Last Updated 01 April 2011, 19:40 IST

“Captain M S Dhoni’s stars are shining bright. He is in his 30th year and this is very lucky for him. Dhoni’s ‘lagna’ (ascadent) is Virgo. Rahu (Mercury) is also in operation. Ketu ‘dasa’ entered on March 29. Ketu is yogakaraka or significator. Due to this he won against Pakistan. The same configuration will be there on April 2 too. His stars are better than Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakara and it means India will win. Match will be well-fought by both the teams,” astrologer Ajay Bhambhi said.

“Sri Lanka will win the toss and will make a total of more than 300 runs, which will not be a difficult task for the Indian team to chase,” he added.

Bejan Daruwalla, another renowned astrologer, said India has the capability to win the coveted trophy. “I am not God, but I feel India should win,” he said.

No cakewalk

Astro-numerologist Anupam V Kapil said India will win but the match will not be a cakewalk for the ‘Men in Blue’.

“The World Cup final is likely to be a very tough contest for India, unlike that against Pakistan as Sri Lanka seems to be putting up an excellent team performance with good batting, backed up with good bowling. India’s weak link surprisingly will be the batting, though our bowling may be better,” he said.

“With Sri Lanka’s overall team performance being quite good, India will have to get Kumar Sangakkara, Tillakaratne Dilshan and Upul Tharanga out fast. Lasith Malinga’s bowling will be a threat. If India has to win, its middle order will have to stick it out and Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Suresh Raina will have to make big scores. It will be a miracle if Indian bats the full 50 overs,” Kapil added.

Winning potential

Prem Kumar Sharma said: “We defeated Australia (in the quarterfinals), who are four-time champions. They were strong oponent as compared to Sri Lanka, so I feel India has the potential to win the World Cup.”

India and Sri Lanka have met seven times in the World Cup. Sri Lanka leads the win-loss record 4-2, with one no-result.
