He barely knew that the gang was following him in a four-wheeler on July 19. As he went in his friend’s car after the police seized his bike, the gang dropped their murder plan. However they were caught when they stopped a vehicle near Anil Kumble Circle and tried to rob the driver.

The accused are Mubaraq, Pradeep, Jafrulla, all residents of BSK Stage II,
Chandrashekhar, Paramesh and Murthy of Kaggalipura Colony and Ashok of Jigani hobli.

The police recovered lethal weapons, chilli powder packets and seven cellphones. Three other accused are at large.

Addressing a press conference the DCP (Central) G Ramesh said, “Mubaraq, a carpenter, and Madesha were with Tameer, a mason in Basavanagudi. Recently, Tameer dismissed Mubaraq after Madesha complained about his style of functioning and Mubaraq decided to settle scores with him.”

Tameer took the help of the other accused and one of them, Ashok gave him his four-wheeler, he said.

Madesha was returning home after having drinks and dinner, while the accused chased him. The Basavanagudi traffic police stopped Madesha, booked a drunken driving case and seized the bike. The accused were watching this from a certain distance. Incidentally, Madesha spotted one of his friends driving a car and requested for a drop. The accused decided to execute the plan the next day, and drove towards Anil Kumble Circle and parked the vehicle in front of Bible Society of India.

The Cubbon Park night patrolling police grew suspicious after seeing many people inside the car and two separate number plates, one in front and another on the rear side. The police arrested the accused while three of them managed to escape, the DCP said.
