Along with the two bands, soul singer Joss Stone too is among the acts who are lined up to perform at the opening ceremony in London which will be conceptualised by ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ director Danny Boyle.

‘Coldplay’ is on top of the organisers’ wish-list of acts to perform a specially-written track for the opening ceremony of the prestigious sporting event. “‘Coldplay’ is the biggest stadium rocker in Britain today and their style of anthemic music would be perfect for the Olympics,” said a source.

“The opening song needs to be something inspirational. The hope is that they would perform at the opening ceremony, as well as produce a recording of the track, which could help fund good causes in British sport,” the source added.
