Cheering on the players along with hundreds of Kabaddi followers, for once, Yeddyurappa found himself being on the 'sidelines' of an event.
Yeddyurappa left the playground after witnessing two back-to-back games of the men’s round. Speaking to the media after the event, the Chief Minister said he was pleased with the support Kabaddi got from the sports-enthusiasts.
The outgoing Mayor SK Nataraj led the cheering for the teams. A Kabaddi player himself, the Mayor said that the last time this tournament was held was in 1986.
A prize of Rs 25,000 will be given to every participating team with the winning team walking away with Rs two lakh. The runners-up would be handed over Rs one lakh, along with a trophy. He also said that every player was given Rs 300 per day of the tourney.
