Last Updated 14 April 2011, 19:40 IST

On April  11 this year,  India had released 39 Pakistani prisoners from its jails.

The goodwill gesture manifested by both nations comes a fortnight after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Pakistani counterpart Yousuf Raza Gilani sat together in Mohali for the World Cup cricket semi-final.

The Indian prisoners would cross the Attari border on Friday, said sources. Just a few days ago, Pakistan had released an Indian prisoner, Gopal Dass, who had been languishing in Pakistani jail for the last 27-years.
