To prevent the instances of domestic LPG misuse in vehicles, a proposal will be sent to the government seeking permission to open LPG filling stations at Madikeri and Kushalnagar, said Transport Commissioner Bhaskar Rao.

Speaking to mediapersons during his visit to the new Road Transport Office building under construction near Abbi Falls Road in the outskirts of the city on Friday, Rao said that he had instructed Regional Transport Officer Nanjaraje Urs to take stringent action against those who misuse domestic LPG cylinders in vehicles.

Talking about department’s decision of shifting the office to the outskirts, which is eight kilometers away from the city, Rao said that the decision was already taken by the department earlier. Hence, nothing can be done with regard to the issue now, he clarified.

He admitted that those who want to visit the new Regional

Transport Office for official works will have to shell out atleast Rs 100 as autorickshaw hire.

But there is no other way except shifting the office to new premises, he added.

He said that since election code of conduct is in force the payment of Rs 70 lakh due to the contractor was not released so far.

The Regional Transport Office will be shifted to the new premises after the termination of election code of conduct, he added.
