The decision was taken at a meeting held under the presidentship of ZP President Prafulla Manjunath.

Raising the issue of shortage of drinking water, Opposition member Savitha Ramesh said that the ZP members could not even dig a borewell. “We are forced to ask money from Deputy Commissioner. The Zilla Panchayat members want power which we had earlier,” said Satish.

Karehalli region in Tarikere is suffering from shortage of water owing to the failure of a transformer. The people of the region are forced to collect water from three miles away from Karehalli. An overhead tank was constructed in the region four years ago. However, the tank never filled so far. Water is being supplied through tankers in Seethoor in Malnad. The people of Hunasaghatta and Bettadahalli are facing severe shortage of water owing to the non availability of transformer in the region, said MLC Gayathri Shanthe Gowda.

The people of Kadur and Tarikere are forced to consume water with flouride content. There is a need to set up a purifying unit in the region. “Let us urge the Chief Minister to release funds for it,” said member Rekha Huliyappa Gowda.
