'Implement Honnekadu water project'

At a meeting held on Monday, the members urged the Zilla Panchayat Assistant Executive Engineer and Contractor to complete the work on the proposed project. Keeping in mind the population of Kalasa in the next 50 years, the water project at an estimated cost of Rs 7 crore has been prepared.

Contractor Prabhakar Bhat said that the work on check dam will be completed by May end.

The remaining works will be completed in the next nine months. Taluk Panchayat former member Manjappayya took the engineer to task for not taking the water distribution system of the town while preparing the project report. Replying to it, engineer Manjunath said that about Rs one crore is pending in the project. If the proposal is sent to the government, then the distribution system can be undertaken.

Water tank

Two lakh litre capacity water tank is being built at Duggappanakatte. The water will be purified using sand and chlorin. Water will be supplied only after purifying it, informed Manjunath. Duggappanakatte is 78 metre high than Honnekadu water source. The pipeline will pass through Duggappanakatte from Kalasa.
