7 held guilty for Cable Babu's murder

Ganesh and six of his accomplices-Thontadarya, Ravi, Rakesh, Prakash, Venkataraju and Ramarao had kidnapped Babu alias ‘Bulb’ alias ‘Cable Babu’ of Aravinda Nagar in 2005 and had murdered him.

Babu and Ganesh had differences of opinion over cable network, that led to the former’s gruesome killing.

Ganesh aided by his men had kidnapped Babu in a van and had cut him into pieces after taking him to Hommaragalli on the outskirts.

They were caught on the same day of the incident, when they were found seeing washing off the vehicle used for kidnap near a canal.

The sensational incident had created flutter among cable operators then, bringing to fore the grip of mafia on the trade.

Kuvempunagar Police had registered a case or kidnap and murder.

By pronouncing the judgment, the judge Uma reserved the quantum of punishment for April 21.

V B Nayak was the public prosecutor and Ashwin Kumar Joshi was the counsel for the accused.
