The lorry that was flagged off by MCC Mayor Praveen on Thursday will set off on rounds at Lady Goshen, Central Market and State Bank area and cease goods from the street vendors who are selling on footpath hence leading to traffic congestion.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, MCC Commissioner Dr K N Vijayprakash said that MCC was on a continuous drive to stop vendors selling goods on road but the vendors use to still return.
Hence the lorry will now act as a watchdog and continuously cease the goods.

The lorry will be accompanied with a revenue officer, health inspector and uniformed personnel. The ceased goods will be sent to rehabilitation centres and as for the people, they can always opt to sell goods inside the market, said MCC Commissioner adding that about 66 stalls are vacant in Central Market.

“This concept is started on an experimental basis and if it’s a hit, then more such vehicles may be launched,” said Vijayprakash.

“This drive will help in avoiding traffic congestion and hence lead to smooth mobility,” said Mayor.
