DIET felicitates 19 SDMCs

The 19 SDMCs were given certificates and a cheque of Rs 3,000 each.

Addressing the gathering District-in-Charge Minister Krishna J Palemar said that the State is in mourning due to the demise of Sri Satya Sai Baba but the authorities decided to hold the programme even during mourning period as the programme was encouraging educational institutions. The State has declared two-day mourning for Baba’s death. Satya Sai Baba had always wished for development in education field. Awards were also given for the best handwritten magazine at the district and cluster level. A residential quarters ‘Anargaya’ for the DIET officers was also inaugurated on the occasion.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, DK ZP Suribailu School Principal Kalyani Gangadhar said that she is very happy that Suribailu School has been recognised for its achievements. Such awards motivate schools to perform better, she added.

DIET Principal Philomena Lobo said that Rs 53.8 lakhs was sanctioned for various development works in the DIET campus which included the new residential quarters, training centres and renovation of Principal’s office.

“These awards are given for excellence in performance, especially to those SDMC’s who have worked hard on improving the quality of education,” said DDPI Chamegowda.The schools which won awards are Bantwal taluk Zilla Panchayat Higher Primary School, Muloor, Sooribailu, Keddalike, Belthangady taluk Zilla Panchayat Higher Primary School, Karnodi, Badagakarandoor, Barengaya, Mangalore’s Mullakadu, Bokkapattana school, Mangalore taluk’s Kilenjaru, Guthakadu, Madhya school, Moodibidri’s Madur, Beluvai school, Puttur taluk’s Pucchamogaru, Kudippady and Uppinangady school, Sullia taluk’s Kunthur, Mulya, Peruvaje higher primary schools.  

The best handwritten magazine award was given to Nelyadka Government Higher Primary SChool, Belthangady (I), Government Higher Primary School, Mullakadu (II) and Government Higher Primary School, Vittal (III).
