Apeksha pocketed gold in the 30-metre event while the two silver medals came her way in 40M and the overall category. The teenager scored 252 points for the 30M title and shot 263 to grab the second place in the 40M event. Apeksha’s tally of 515 points earned her silver in the overall category.

“I feel proud of my achievement. These medals will surely motivate me to perform better in future,” said Apeksha.

The 15-year-old Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya student, awaiting her tenth standard CBSE exam results, got the opportunity to represent the State after winning gold medals in the 30M, 40M and overall categories at the State inter-school competition last November in Bangalore.

Apeksha said encouragement from father Basavaraddeppa Ronad, who works in the state accounts department of BBMP, mother Jayashri B Ronad, and coaches enabled her to perform well in the meet which concluded on April 21.

Apeksha, who took to archery two years ago at her school, has nurtured her skills under A Anasuya, the physical education teacher of Navodaya Vidyalaya, and her personal coach Brijeshkumar.

The Bangalore girl represented Karnataka in the National Junior archery championship in Raipur and the Sub-junior Nationals in Dhanbad, both in 2009.
