On a tip off that a tin-box was lying on the banks of a canal near the Viratipathu check-post and foul smell was emanating from it, police went to the spot.
On opening the box, body of the missing 23-year-old woman, Latha, who was working as a pharmacist in a medical shop, was recovered from it last night.
Police said her face was mutilated, legs found crushed and one hand had been cut. Latha had got married two years ago to a software engineer, police said, adding her husband had lodged a complaint that his wife had gone missing. The couple's first child had died soon after it was born, police added.
