New courses at Central varsity

Students to be admitted for various programmes through two entrance tests

Giving details about the academic calendar of events to mediapersons on Tuesday, CUK Vice-Chancellor A M Pathan said the admission to different courses would be given through two entrance tests.

An entrance test will be conducted by CUK on June 26 at various examination centres in Gulbarga, Belgaum, Mysore, Bangalore, Mangalore, Hubli-Dharwad, Hyderabad, besides Kerala and Tamil Nadu for admission to MBA, M Com, MA (English), MA (Kannada), M Phil and PhD. Pathan said CUK has decided to conduct entrance test exclusively for these courses as they are very popular and give more opportunities to students.

CUK will issue admission notification on May 4 and the sale of forms will begin that day itself at the CUK campus here. The last date for submitting the applications is June 18.
The Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) will be conducted for the remaining courses on June 18 and 19 at 25 centres including the above mentioned ones.
CUCET will be jointly conducted by seven Central universities in Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Jammu and Kashmir. The notification will be issued on May 2 and sale of forms will begin the same day. The last date for submitting the forms is June 4.

The courses that will be offered through CUCET include five-year integrated BA (Honours) in economics, geography, psychology, history and English; a three-year standalone Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) course, Master of Social Work and M Sc in geospatial applications in regional development.

For M Phil and PhD courses, the last date for receiving applications is July 30 and entrance test will be held on August 8. Prospectus and application forms can be downloaded from the website www.cuk.ac.in Pathan said students will be provided facilities including computer lab with internet connectivity, library with e-journals, hostel accommodation, merit-cum-means scholarship, Rs 3,000 monthly scholarship for MPhil students and Rs 5,000 for PhD students. He said all courses will be offered on choice-based credit system with cafeteria approach, exposure to national institutions with personality development, soft skills and communication skills as part of the curriculum.
