Prove your worth to the brother

Dhool

Stalking is an art: Yogesh and Aindrita Ray in Dhool

A down-on-luck middle class boy Guru falls in love with a rich girl (Aindrita). He approaches her brother, businessman Nandakumar (Prakash Rai) to inform of his love. Nandakumar takes it lightly but is livid on finding Guru’s predictions becoming true. His sister is adamant and Nanda resorts to the ole trick: offer cash in exchange for his sister’s affections. Guru readily accepts. From then on, it is a cat and mouse game between the two...

Dhool, the remake of Thiruvilayadal Arambam manages to kick up some dust. Mainly due to Rai. And some necessarily-clever dialogues by Ramnarayan. Rai is in full form - subtly menacing while chewing up the scenes wholesale. Yogesh manages to stand his ground. The winner, however,  is the audience, which is at it should be.

Aindrita is pleasing on the eye. Achyuth, Sudha Belawadi and others add their mite to make the film relatable. Dharani’s screenplay scores that way. Harikrishna’s music has some unusual ‘sounds’ but except for the “Loosa” song the rest don’t make the cut.
