Upper Bhadra Project flayed

Speaking to presspersons, he said government is implementing Upper Bhadra project unilaterally without giving information to the farmers.

Condemning the State government for implementing the project without giving water to Davangere and Bellary districts, he said a meeting of farmers from Bhadra catchment area will be held on July 29 at Shimoga and July 30 at Davangere.

The meeting is aimed at creating an awareness among farmers. The meet will decide on the future course of action.

According to Karnataka Neeravari Nigama Engineer, with the implementation of the project, irrigation facilities will be provided to 1,07,265 hectare land in Chikmagalur and Chitradurga districts.

Water will be supplied to three tanks in Chikmagalur district, 34 tanks in Chitradurga district, 100 in Tumkur and 19 in Kolara districts.

However, there is no documents to prove CM’s statement that it will provide water to 54 tanks in the district.
