Educate gen next on ancient Kannada

Need of the hour was to educate the future generation about the significance of ancient Kannada which had a history of thousands of years.

Speaking after inaugurating a convention on ancient Kannada litterateur organised jointly by Kannada Sahitya Parishat and SDJMI Educational Institutions  at Srikshetra Shravanabelagola in Channarayapatna taluk on Saturday, he said the role of Kannada research scholars was very important in promoting Kannada litterateur.

Facilitate tourists

On pending developmental works at the shrine, the minister said the State Government had already released Rs five crore for the completion of pending works. Steps are taken for the improvement of roads connecting Shravanbelagola as thousands of tourists flock the shrine daily.

The government is planning to fill Nuggehalli tank at a cost of Rs 22 crore. Several villagers in Nuggehalli hobli would benefitted.

Besides, a Rs 45 crore drinking water supply project is planned to ease water crisis in K R Pet, Shrvanabelagola and Santhebachahalli in Chanarayapatna taluk.

The minister promised to take consider allot a piece of land to construct ‘Sahitya Bhavan’ in Channarayapatna.

 Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Dr R K Nallur Prasad, MLA C S Puttegowda, litterateur Hampa Nagarajaiah, Srikshetra Shravanabelagola Seer Charukeerthi Bhattaraka, Deputy Commissioner Naveen Raj Singh, Superintendent of Police Amith Singh and others were present.
