The fair commenced by showcasing of the best of 3D animation and visual effects work by students of animation. Srijan showcased actual animation projects done by MAAC Bangalore students and illustrations of animation stages pre-production, production and post-production activities.

The day-long event saw an interesting and informative presentation by industry expert Girish Khera, MD, Scientific Animations, who shared his thoughts on a fascinating and lesser-known aspect of animation in the non-entertainment sector through the topic Achieving Reality in Medical Animation.

Subhajit Sarkar of Rhythm and Hues Studios, presented his views, supported with a case study. “Srijan has proved to be an exceptionally strong platform that brings together the youth and Bollywood animation studios. A good interaction between the two parties gives them an opportunity to show what each of them has to offer. Students display their works in 3D animation and visual effects through show reels, and in return get to know what the industry has to offer them. India offers a vast talent pool, but in order to reach its full potential, we need to enhance and channelise the students talent,” said Aruna Kumar, South Zone Head, MAAC.

Though the edufair was already filled with animation and visual effects, the feel of the fair turned grand with the screening of The Legend of Ram Series by Bengaluru-based independent artist, Vivek Ram. Ram presented a complete case study of digital illustration on the making of this series, which completely enthralled the audience.

One of the main attraction and USP of Srijan is the exhibition of the excellent work done by MAAC students and studios. The artwork showcased by the students was terrific and received accolades and prizes. One best entry was chosen in each of the pre-production, production and post production categories.

Sumoh Mohan won the award in the pre-production category for a portrait of a girl, Jithesh N P won the award in production category for his highly creative pictures and the post-production category was won by Karthik Thiagarajan for his creation of cars that looks amazingly real on a real road.
