‘Minister’s men’ in police net

Two people, who tried to secure admission to a student in a college, posing as Home Minister’s son-in-law and gunman, have been arrested, DHNS reports from
Bangalore.

The accused, Sujendra and Govindraju, had approached the Seshadripuram Degree College to get a seat for one Sharat Kumar. Sujendra claimed to be son-in-law of the Home Minister while Govindraju posed as the gunman. Police have arrested the two and a complaint has been lodged at the Sheshadripuram Police Station.

Woman murdered, paramour arrested

A man was arrested on Saturday for allegedly murdering a woman and disposing her body in a gutter at Amruthahalli. The accused Venkataramanappa, strangled Puttalakshmamma to death with whom he was closely acquainted.

The deceased was married to Nagaraj but was living separately. She also had an affair with Venkataramanappa. On several occasions, Venkataramanappa had quarrelled with Puttalakshmamma for the frequent visits made by her husband.

In a rage on July 19, Venkataramanappa strangled Puttalakshmamma to death and disposed the body in a nearby gutter.

The incident came to light when Nagaraj visited Puttalakshmamma’s house and on not finding her, lodged a complaint with the Police.

Rs 2.93 lakh robbed

Miscreants robbed a shop owner of Rs 2.93 lakh on Saturday after throwing chilli powder on him, at HRBR Layout on Saturday night.

Nisar Ahmed, owner of Parveen Steel Stores, had kept the day’s earnings in his two-wheeler after closing his shop. On reaching his house, he stopped the two-wheeler to take the money. Immediately, the miscreant threw chilli powder, pushed him down and decamped with the money. According to the police the robbery could be the handiwork of someone known to Ahmed.
