Not thinking of play-offs, says Kohli

“We’ve two more games left in the league stage and we want to approach them with the same intensity as the earlier matches. This is a chance for everyone to enjoy the game and express their talent in equal measure, but without compromising on intensity. We are not thinking of any pressure or the play-off matches at this stage,” Kohli told reporters on Monday.

Kohli said the pitch at the HPCA stadium would offer some assistance to pace bowlers. “I have played at this ground quite a few times. I know the conditions here well. This is a high-altitude venue and the ball will swing considerably here and it will be a challenge to bat in these conditions. But we are confident,” he said.

“We also have got a few good pace bowlers like Zaheer and Arvind with us who can exploit these conditions. They have been consistent for us in the tournament so far and hopefully, they can repeat the performance on the morrow,” he added.

Kings XI have been on a roll after winning three matches in a row. “The guys are really enjoying their cricket and there’s no shade of tension in the camp. We are aware that we need to win all our remaining matches to remain in contention but we are not thinking about the numbers. In fact, we are not even thinking about the result. We are just focused on doing the basics well, and the results will automatically be taken care of,” bowling coach Jason Gillespie said.
