BSNL officers' meet today

Announcing this at a news conference here on Monday, H Y Andeli, zonal secretary of the association said BSNL General Manager P Raghavan, General Manager (Administration) R Chandramouli, Manager G Gowrishankar and P Venugopal will be the chief guest. The purpose of holding the conference was to provide better facilities to customers as well as to the BSNL on to the path of progress.

He said the BSNL, a government of India subsidiary, is one of the best companies. Once it had more number of customers than Airtel. The BSNL had made a handsome profit of Rs 10,000 crore in 2005-06, but it incurred loss of Rs 2725 crore in 2010-11. The government was responsible for the company to incur loss. The BSNL came a victim of ‘political conspiracy’, he added.

He said the government was not releasing funds to buy the cables and other equipments since last six years only to scuttle its growth. The BSNL’s progress had stopped following stiff competition from private companies. Tenders called twice had been cancelled and this became a blessing in disguise for private companies. This has made them to save this organisation. The BSNL has been giving a transparent service to its customers and it will be holding a programme to address the grievances of customers as well as to attract new customers.

The association president S Anandakrishnaiah, District Unit President Arvindprasad and R Shankar were present.

Makkala Mela

‘Makkala Mela’, an interaction with children and an exhibition of handicrafts prepared by children during the summer camp will be held at Jagan Mohan Palace in the city on May 17 at 11 am.

Addressing a news conference here on Monday, Saraswathi of Rural Education and Health Centre said it conducted one and a half months summer camp for 50 slum children of Mysore, Mandya and Chamarajanagar district selected from 25 villages. The paintings, masks and handicrafts done by those children would be put on the exhibition. As many as 1,500 children are expected to participate in the mela. An interaction is also arranged on the same day.

She said Deputy Commissioner Harsh Gupta will inaugurate the mela and Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Panchayat G Satyavathi will preside. Deputy Director of Department of Public Instructions Nagendrakumar, Deputy Director of Department of Women and Child Welfare Vijaya and Child Rights Commission’s Niranjan Aradhya will be the chief guests.

 On this occasion, the centre would demand the government to give free education to children in the age groups of three to 18 years, to make Mysore free from child labour, to introduce English as a subject from first standard and to check child marriage.

Manoj of Vidyodhaya Makkala Hakkugala Okkuta, Yathiraj, president of Mysore Kolache Okkuta and Nalini, chairperson of Dhwani Mahila Okkuta were present.
