JOIN USHe was addressing a district-level meeting of the Society, at the Lakkamma Doddamuniyappa Kalyana Mantapa, on Monday.
“There is great need for adequate supply of blood in the district,” he added.
Deputy Commissioner Dr N Manjula said Rs 10 lakh has already been approved to start a blood bank in the district, but more funds will be necessary. “Work on building the blood bank will begin soon,” she promised.
Awareness necessary
Zilla Panchayat chief executive officer B S Shekharappa said it is necessary to spread awareness about the importance of maintaining good health among the rural people. “They should also be instructed on maintenance of a clean environment as well as regular health check-ups,” he said.
Society officers and organisations in the district, who got in the maximum number of members to the society, were awarded with medals and certificates.
Chikkaballapur Red Cross Society vice-president Dr K P Srinivasa Murthy, secretary Dr K Babu Reddy, joint secretaries C K Narayanachari and Venkatanarayana were among those who attended the meeting.
