Girls shine again in ICSE exam

According to the CICSE which declared the results here on Tuesday, the pass percentage of girls in Class X stood at 99.15 per cent against 98.19 of boys.  In Class XII, the pass percentage of girls stood at 98.40 per cent while it remained 96.30 per cent in the case of boys.

“Girls have done better than boys in both ICSE and ISC examinations,” said CICSE additional secretary and officiating chief executive Gerry Arathoon.

Altogether 1,22,347 students in Class X and 57,487 in Class-XII took the examinations held in March. The rate of successful students this year reached 98.61 per cent in Class X which is 0.30 per cent higher than the last year.  The pass percentage of students in Class XII came at 97.24 per cent, up by 0.13 per cent from last year. Southern region of the country had the best results in Class X and Class XII both.

Pass percentage for Class X in southern region stood at 99.72 followed by western region with 99.63 per cent, eastern region 98.70 per cent and northern region 97.76 per cent.

For Class XII, pass percentage of students in southern region remained 98.28, followed by western region with 97.80, eastern region 97.46 and northern region 96.80.
All the girls who appeared for Class X exam in the State came out with flying colours while 99.95 boys could only be successful.

In Class XII examination also, girls in Karnataka outperformed boys. About 99.02 per cent girls passed the examination while the percentage of successful boys in the examination stood at 97.59.

Although, the results of Class X examinations in the State remained better than the previous one, the performance of students in Class XII examination was not impressive this year. The rate of successful students in Class XII examination came down by 1.16 per cent in the State with only 98.31 per cent students clearing their examination. However, 99.97 per cent students out of a total 7,574 cleared their Class X examination in the State. Pass percentage in the examinations conducted  abroad remained hundred per cent. Marksheets for Class XII will reach the schools on May 19 and for Class-X a day later.
