Nine nabbed in two different murder cases

Cracking the murder of head constable, Vijay Kumar, Shobharani (36) and her associate Kumar (24) were arrested yesterday and a vehicle and 20 grams of gold seized from them, a police statement said.

When Vijay Kumar, a head constable with Malleshwaram Traffic police station did not return on May 6, 2011, his son lodged a complaint with Rajajinagar police.Kumar's burnt body was found the next day, near Bangarpet, Kolar.

During interrogation, Shobharani, the prime accused revealed that Kumar was also a financier and had obtained a loan of rs 1.8 lakh from him after she pledged her gold ornaments wth him.When he demanded the interest, she gave him some juice mixed with sleeping tablets. After he fell unconscious, she along with her associate strangled him and then burnt his body.

In another case, seven persons were arrested for allegedly kidnapping and then murdering their friend A N Murali (22) and dumping his body near Chikkaballapur.

"Financial deals between the group of friends was stated to be the motive behind the murder", the statement said.
