The parents of a girl in Mahantalapura told K Radha, an official of the department of women and child development. The girl, who turns 18 in another six months, was all set to get married on June 2.  The official, along with members of BGVS Vidyankura institution, then visited Badagalamole village in the taluk. The team directed the girl’s parents to stop the marriage. In another incident, the marriage of a minor girl was stopped by officials of the child development project at Vadeghatta in Kunigal on Thursday.  The girl’s father Ramanna had arranged her marriage with Ranganath, a resident of Nandini Layout.
