Judge H Ramu found Naveen, a resident of Nelavagilu village, guilty of murdering Akkamma (75) of Sarakanur village on December 31, 2008, for gain.
Naveen forcibly entered Akkamma’s house, strangled her after robbing her of gold jewellery.
He then dumped her body in an abandoned well at the farm of Ashwath Narayan, covered it with stones, and fled.
Police took up investigation after Akkamma’s son Manjunath lodged a missing complaint with Nandagudi police who arrested Naveen and submitted a charge sheet.
