After spending their holidays happily, the students are now busy preparing for their degree courses, the classes for which will commence soon.

They are involved in purchasing clothes, bags, accessories, books and study materials, required for the new academic year.

Metrolife speaks to a few students from different colleges to find out more about their preparations for degree classes.

Ashritha Adiga, who has finished her PUC in Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni College for Women, is now all set to join Garden City College for BA.

“College will be starting from the second week of July. As I have opted for the journalism course, I have purchased a laptop and camera as an academic requirement. I am mentally prepared to face a new college and make a new bunch of friends. In fact, I am excited to attend my first class. Unlike PUC syllabus, degree subjects will be in-depth and the course will be more challenging. Hence, I am doing a little bit of research on those subjects as well,” she explains.

Shilpa, another student, is very happy as she is joining Christ University to pursue BA. “I prepared well for the interview and hence, I succeeded in clearing it. I am elated about getting into an autonomous college. As my course is commencing from June 13, I have done some shopping too. We have a dress code according to which, we have to wear only salwars and kurtas. Therefore, I have purchased a variety of kurtas and salwars,” she says.

Abdul Raheem Ansar, who has finished PUC at MS Ramaiah Composite PU College, has now joined the International Institute of Business Studies for BBM. “I have shifted from science to commerce as I am interested in accounts and management. My classes will commence from mid July. So I am a bit anxious. As I am new to the course, I am learning accountancy from a friend of mine. Since my college provides uniforms, blazers and study materials, I am relaxed,” he says.

Varsha, who wants to become a chartered accountant, has joined Jain Evening College so that she can focus on her career.

“As of now, I am busy preparing for the CPT exams which will be held on June 19.
Only after the exams get over, I can think about my degree classes. I heard that teaching is excellent in Jain College.

Hence, I am eager to attend the classes which are starting on June 20. According to the dress code, we have to wear only ‘kurtas’ and ‘salwars’. So I am planning to buy more of those,” she says.
