C S Geetha was working in the high school section as an assistant teacher since three years. She later passed the KPSC exams, was appointed as a headmistress and was working in Haveri district.

While working at the high school in Masti, Geetha was eligible to about Rs 23,000 as salary and maternity allowance. She had submitted an application requesting that she be granted the allowance.

She had even requested information about the matter from JOC lecturer of the college Umavathi Naidu, over telephone on Tuesday. Naidu approached Gurudutt in place of Geetha. Gurudutt, in turn, demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000.

Learning of the vice principal’s demand, Geetha requested Naidu to complain to the Lokayukta police on her behalf. Following the complaint filed by Naidu, the Lokayukta police arrested the vice principal for accepting bribe, informed sources.

Superintendent of Police A B Sudhakar led a team of inspectors S Manjunath and Lokesh and police staff members during the investigation.
