With his killer looks, he has all the potential to be a hero but Sonu prefers the ‘baddie image’ that people have liked him for.

With a string of movies in his pocket, Sonu, who was in the City recently for the Celebrity Cricket League, says that he is loving every moment of life at present.

“I’m currently in a very happy phase of my life. Every actor waits for that big break and Dabangg was mine. I have had a string of offers after the film but I can proudly say that I’ve had to reject some really good scripts because I’m completely tied up for another one-and-a-half years,” says Sonu. And out of the huge list of films he has signed, the Tamil ones excite him the most.

“I’m really excited to be a part of Rana. I can’t reveal too much about the project but it is an honour to be sharing screen space with Rajni sir. In fact, after he saw Dabangg, he was the one to recommend me for the role. So I really couldn’t refuse it. I’ve also accepted to play the same role I played in Dabangg in the film’s Tamil version, alongside actor Simbu,” says Sonu, who incidentally started his career in Tamil films.

The actor is also excited about the Hindi films he has in hand. “We’re almost done with the dubbing of Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap. This film was wrapped up quickly. We are looking at a July release. It was great working alongside Amitabh Bachchan.

In this film, I break free from my bad guy image and play the positive role of a tough cop. Though I believe that there is more scope in a villain’s role, I have no issues playing the good guy at times,” he laughs.

The year will also see him debut in Kannada films through Dwarakish’s Vishnuwardhana which also stars Sudeep. “This is going to be another entertaining film where I play a very entertaining don. Sometimes I look back and see how far I have come and how well people from various industries have accepted me and now, I am eagerly waiting to see how I will be welcomed in Kannada films,” he signs off.
