'Forces working to disrupt drafting committee'

He was speaking at the ‘Anti-corruption Rally’ organised by the Karnataka Janajagruthi Vedike here recently.

Pointing out that several debates need to be held about the proposed Bill, he said that it would help reduce corruption at the Centre. Mentioning that corruption is rampant and deals take place in crores, Hegde said that it can be controlled by improving awareness.
Observing that 12 Bills were passed within 17 minutes in 2008 session of the Parliament, he said that the Jan Lokpal Bill wasn’t drafted even after so many years.

He said that people couldn’t expect much from such elected representatives. Social mindset has to change if corruption has to be controlled. Society should decided to banish corrupt people, he added.

Freedom fighter H S Doreswamy, former speakers of the Legislative Assembly Krishna, Rameshkumar, Raitha Sangha President K S Puttanaiah, litterateur Devanuru Mahadev, former MLA M K Subbaiah, Mariswamy and others were present.
