Speaking to the media after offering bagina to Ambligola reservoir here on Thursday, he said that responsible behaviour was expected from Opposition members over the issue.
CM refused to comment on queries regarding the letter from Governor seeking details of KHB land scam.

Yeddyurappa said that discussion on these issues should be held in house and he is willing for that. Regarding the land purchasing scam, he said that KHB purchased 950 acre land near Bangalore at the cost of Rs 55 lakh per acre. Rs 32 crore was spent for the purchase. KHB was asked to stop the purchase process as I felt that the cost was high. Opposition parties are unnecessarily raising hue and cry over the issue, the Chief Minister said.

Let there be a debate on the performances of the governments which ruled the State in the past five years and probe into the scams which were reported during the period, he said adding that he was ready for probe into the scams which were reported in the past five years including those during the BJP rule.

Special session

The special session of State Legislature will be held in second week of September in which PURA - Providing Urban Amenities in rural Areas, the concept mooted by Dr Abdul Kalam will be discussed in detail. State government is committed to upgrade infrastructure in rural areas and make agriculture a profitable venture to prevent the exodus of rural populace towards urban centres, he said.

Regarding the byelections for five Assembly segments, he informed that BJP has finalised the list of candidates. When quizzed on the load shedding in the State, he said that though water storage in reservoirs has improved, load shedding for 2-3 hours a day is inevitable as the available water should be used economically. He informed that a meeting of officials will be held shortly to discuss the power situation in the State.

CM said that the statues of Sarvajna and Thiruvalluvar will be unveiled in a grand manner in Chennai and Bangalore respectively. Opposition for the installation of the statues of great personalities are uncalled for, he stated.
