He was presiding over the phone-in programme at his office. Incidentally, it was also his maiden meeting after assuming charge of the new role.
The deputy commissioner said most of the officers prefer to stay away from the meetings, sending their juniors on their behalf, to represent at the meetings.
Such officers, will be not aware of the issue and it’s high time, such erroneous practices are set right. The officers should come prepared with the minutes of earlier meetings, he said.
18 calls
In all, 18 calls were received at the phone-in programme.
They were regarding closing of roads near DC’s office itself, besides near Yuvaraja’s College and Fire Brigade in Saraswathipuram, harijan’s woes at Kittur in Periyapatna taluk, clearing a shop constructed encroaching government land at Varuna hobli, repair of Alanahalli Layout road, shifting of illegal school for specially abled, plying of private buses on T Narsipura route sans permit, development of garden among several others.
Illegal sand mining going on unabated at T Narsipura was another prominent complaint heard at the meeeting. A total of 36 applications regarding public grievances were also received.
Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer G Satyavathi, Additional Deputy Commissioner Zaheera Naseem, Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Secretary Vidyakumari and other officers were present during the phone-in programme
