Theatre hosts play on the streets

Dr Siddalingaiah, famed as the ‘Dalita Kavi’, and currently the chairman of the Kannada Pustaka Pradhikara, watched a presentation of his autobiographical work ‘Ooru Keri’ by artistes belonging to the Ninasam Janamanadata team.

Incidentally, the poet was among hundreds of spectators at the T Chennayya Rangamandira on Thursday night, who felt so.

M Ganesh, who is Dr Siddalingaiah’s student and lecturer at Ninasam, visualised, planned, directed and also acted in the play. His efforts were lauded not only by the impressed audience, but by Dr Siddalingaiah himself, on behalf of the district administration.
Deputy Commissioner Manoj Kumar Meena also felicitated Dr Siddalingaiah as part of the programme.

The play, scheduled to begin at 7 pm, began only at 7.45 pm and continued till 9.45 pm. However, the delay was mostly forgotten thanks to the excellent performance of the actors.
Theatre enthusiasts in the city gathered in the Rangamandira in large numbers to watch the play. Managing officers Dr Nataraj, K Umalakshmi and B S Venkatachalapathi, lecturers Naganala Muniyappa and Muniraju were present among the audience.
