24 Lingayat mutt heads visit Parameshwara

On Sunday, 24 Lingayat pontiffs from North Karnataka paid a visit to KPCC president G Parameshwara’s residence. A total of 25 seers, including seers of Karanji mutt, Rudrakshi mutt, Savanur mutt, Doddahunise mutt, Kalmutt of Gangavati and Kottur mutt, were at Parameshwara’s bungalow in Sadashivnagar on Sunday afternoon before they left for their15-day foreign trip.

The Congress leader and his wife performed ‘padapuje’ to the seer of Nidusodi mutt in Belgaum. Only one seer was from Valmiki community.

The pontiffs, during their trip to spread Basavanna’s philosophy and preachings, will visit six countries including Australia, Indonesia and Singapore.

Congress worker Vishwaprakash Ullagaddi Math from Hubli, had brought the seers of Veerashiva community to his party leader’s house. Prakash said: “Parameshwara had met the Nidusodi seer and others during his visits to Hubli. Hence, I brought them to his house. There is no political significance attached to their visit.”

Parameshwara too said that there is no need to attach special significance to their visit. “They were on their way to the airport. So, they paid a visit to my house.” Former minister B K Chandrashekar too was present.
