Grand double for Shreyal

The talented teenager first captured the youth crown with a straight games defeat of Vedanth M Urs before returning to the table later in the evening to trounce Jaydip Das 4-0 for the senior title at the Canara Union.

Packing far too many guns, Telang crushed Vedanth 12-14, 11-6, 11-4, 11-4, 11-7 and showed the same intensity against Jaydip, winning 11-8, 12-10, 11-4, 12-10. Aishwarya R Bidri overcame a gritty Haripriya KS 11-8, 9-11, 11-9, 21-23, 12-10, 11-9 to emerge champion in the women’s singles category while Neeraj Raj S took home the non-medallist title, beating Chandresekhar K 8-11, 11-8, 11-7, 13-11.
