The couple were at the office of the Director General and Inspector General of police, where Home Minister R Ashoka addressed the media to detail the abduction-murder episode.

“The police should take steps to curb such evil forces. I had seen three of them in Hunsur before the incident took place. They used to visit my shop regularly, but how would I know they would kill my son one day?” Mohan Kumar asked. A sobbing Nagajyothi said: “He was my only son.

He spent eight years at Ramakrishna Ashram School in Mysore. He was there with us only for two years. Only I know the pain of losing my son.” The couple said  they could not raise the ransom of Rs five crore at short notice.

“We did not have Rs five crore as we belong to a middle class family. The abductors should have understood all this and freed Sudheendra and Vighnesh,” they said.
