Mayawati suspends MLA, manhunt launched for MP's nephews

Police said that a manhunt has been launched for Shazaib Rana and Saddam Rana, nephews of Kadir, and a reward of Rs 5,000 announced on their arrest following a complaint by a friend of the two girls, Gaurav Tiwari, in Shahadra police station that some persons attempted to molest the two girls after abducting them on June 21.

Taking serious note of the incident, Mayawati suspended Bijnor MLA Shahnawaz Rana from the membership of BSP, Principal Secretary (Home) Kunwar Fateh Bahadur told reporters here.

"She has also directed that Rana should not be invited and allowed to enter any party function," he said.

"The Special Task Force has been directed to probe the incident and stern action should be taken against anyone found guilty," the Principal Secretary said.

"On the basis of investigation five persons Dilshaad Rana, Rakib, Masroof, Darrar and Narendra were arrested. Of this Darrar and Narendra are gunners of MLA Rana and his wife Intikhab Rana, chairman of zila panchayat," he said.

Fateh Bahadur said the two gunners have already been suspended and all the five accused have been sent to jail.

"The car used in the incident and licenced pistol of Dilshaad had also been recovered," he said.

The two women were returning to Delhi from Mussoorie along with their two male friends on Tuesday evening when they stopped at a petrol pump to get their vehicle repaired where a group of seven-eight youths abducted them in a car, according to the complainants.

The youths took them to a house and tried to rape them at gun point but the women managed to escape.
